The Department of Labor, Social Affairs and Families of Generalitat de Catalunya has approved an economic aid of up to 2,000 euros for the self-employed who prove a drastic and involuntary reduction in their billing as a consequence of the effects of COVID-19 on their economic activity

Requirements

The self-employed will need to be included in activities forced to close by health authorities. Also, they can’t have other alternative sources of income.

Budget

This grant has a budget of 7.5 million euros.

Conditions

To access this aid, self-employed workers must be registered as freelance workers (“autónomo”), with a tax address in Catalonia.

Access to the grant is achieved through the accreditation of economic losses in the month of March 2020 compared to the same month in March 2019.

In the case of self-employed registered for less than one year, the comparison will be made with the average of the monthly invoicing since joining the freelance regime.

The Department of Labor will grant this aid through the competitive tender procedure until the budget item allocated is exhausted, and will be incompatible with any other aid destined for the same purpose.

This measure is added to the one already published by the Government of Catalonia regarding the suspension of procedural deadlines, and those published by the Spanish government, which we have mentioned in previous articles (Help for SMEs and self-employed and Measures in the workplace)
